This is the wiki of the IGF Dynamic Coalition Schools on Internet Governance. The mission of the DC is to bring together the different schools to better understand how best to offers instruction. While each school develops its own model and curriculum, each school, especially new efforts, can learn from the other schools. The purpose of the wiki is for schools to share their materials, and for schools to learn from
In 2019 the DC worked on its first task a taxonomy for describing Schools on Internet Governance (SIG). This document is trying to capture the variety that exists among the existing programs and the features of the various types of schools. This work continues in 2020, with an attempt to fill in gaps that still exist in the document plus reviewing its structure to see what can be improved. The DC is also starting to work on an Operations Guide for SIGs

Both Taxonomy of Schools on Internet Governance and the Operations Guide are open for comment.

The DC holds Periodic Meetings throughout the year.

An IGF 2019 yearly report is available.
Materials provided by schools participating in DC SIG
In this section, the materials provided to the DC SIG by various schools are listed by school name. Given that every school is different and that schools orient themselves to needs defined by their mission, these materials are not specifically endorsed by the DC SIG.
The materials provide examples of how the contributing schools organize their school, their curriculum and their special programs. All schools are encouraged to submit materials they think may help in the cause of spreading the
outreach and acceptance of SIGs.
This brief report includes a review of the work done in 2019.

In addition to holding a yearly meeting at the IGF, the DC SIG works on open documents and meets regularly, approximately monthly, to discuss suggested changes that have been made to the document. DC SIG documents are drive based and are open to comment by anyone with the URL All proposed changes are discussed and approved before being accepted into the document. The work of the DC SIG is done by its members, who are largely participants in the various schools represented by the members.

Over the course of 2019, a set of tools was created and made available on the web page and the wiki. The web page is setup to display the schools around the world and give pointers to the locations and their web presence. At the time of the meeting, only 3 schools had been located on that map. (As of this writing 8 are displayed, still many more need to be added - all schools are encouraged to pin their school on the map). There are also pages for willing faculty and fellows of the various schools to list themselves - these areas are still rather sparsely filled in. The wiki is dedicated to collecting material that has been offered by the organizers of the schools; material shared in order to help other schools with their planning, curricula, and organization. All schools in internet governance are invited to build their own spaces on the wiki. The group is considering adding video components to the web space that give descriptions and testimonials about the schools. The web maintainer for the site indicates that, in fact most anything the DC SIG decided to add in the context of SIGs, could be added, either in the main web pages or in the wiki. Bit by bit we are making the web site a richer resource.

The 2019 work included the Taxonomy document as well as the web site and wiki that had been set up. Taxonomy is the work of many contributors. At the end of the year it stood at version 0.7, that is, not ready for wider release yet because there are still a few sections yet to be written, though it is a living document that remains open to review and comment. Some of the content areas that still need contribution concern funding strategies, and metrics for school programs that help in future planning and that will satisfy funders. All members of the DC were, and are, encouraged to add content wherever they find a gap.

:::Yearly Update
:::Dynamic Coalition on Schools of Internet Governance
:::(DC SIG)

This brief report included a review of the work done in 2019.

In addition to holding a yearly meeting at the IGF, the DC SIG works on open documents and meeting regularly, approximately monthly, to discuss suggested changes that have been to the document.

The groups is considering adding video components to the web space that give descriptions and testimonials about the schools. The web maintainer for the site indicates that, in fact most anything the DC SIG decided to add in the context of SIGs, could be added, either in the main web pages or in the wiki. Bit by bit we are making the web site a richer resource.

The 2019 work included the Taxonomy document as well as the web site and wiki that had been set.

One of the first tasks for the DC is to develop a taxonomy1 for describing Schools of Internet Governance (SIG). There is a great variety among the existing programs and the features of the various types of schools that often makes it difficult to talk about these Schools and to describe them in a less ambiguous manner. The current draft lays out some of the details and is intended to make it easier to talk about very different schools using similar terminology as the DC moves on to other tasks.

Readers will notice that some sections are more developed than others. This is a work in progress as well as a living document. The content is a reflection of the interests and knowledge of those who volunteered to contribute text.The DC met 6 times over the last year to review and approve new and edited text. Going forward, any reader who has been involved with a SIG who has knowledge in an item being discussed is invited to comment and to suggest edits or new content. The url to do so can also be found at the bottom of each page in the pdf.

Part of this project includes collecting information from current SIGs on the DC website and in this wiki.

As the project goes on, information on various existing schools is being collected. Readers involved in SIGs are invited to add their information to the map and to work with the DC on adding new information to the wiki.
